Scholarships to Attend the NGLA Annual Conference

While applications are no longer accepted for the 2019 NGLA Annual Conference, we encourage you to apply next year for the 2020 NGLA Annual Conference from February 27, 2020 to March 1, 2020 in Baltimore, MD. Historically, scholarship applications are open from early November until mid-January. To ensure that you don’t miss an announcement, please subscribe to our newsletter (enroll via form along right side of the screen) and follow NGLA on Facebook and Twitter.

Conference Scholarships

NGLA raises money annually through a silent auction to support several student registration scholarships to attend the NGLA Annual Conference. Applicants are evaluated on their involvement with the fraternity/sorority and greater campus community, their goals in attending the conference, and their plans to apply what they learn.

New for 2019, NGLA is offering the Experience NGLA scholarship that will cover the cost of the hotel in addition to registration.

For at least one of the scholarships offered, priority will be granted to members of culturally based organizations.

Discovering NGLA Delegation Scholarship

If your delegation is coming to NGLA after not having attended the NGLA Annual Conference for the last three years or perhaps coming to NGLA for the first time, NGLA wants to acknowledge and celebrate your return. We are offering a scholarship that will cover the registration cost for 4 individuals and the campus professional. If you have already registered, we would refund your registration cost if your campus is selected. If you are interested in applying, please submit a letter on University letterhead that details the following:

  • What made you decide to come to the Annual Conference?
  • What are the learning goals for your delegation?
  • How will receiving the scholarship help you achieve those goals?
  • How will students implement what they learn at the conference?
  • What are your plans to work toward ensuring funding for future attendance at the conference?

Advisor Academy Registration Scholarship

NGLA offers scholarships for advisors, with two specifically for advisors of culturally based organizations, to attend the day long NGLA Advisor Academy. Applicants are evaluated on their goals in attending the conference and their plans to apply what they learn.

“Speakers at NGLA were not afraid to address sensitive and controversial topics that are applicable to the Greek experience. I will definitely be looking into bringing these speakers to my own campus so that more of my peers can hear their messages as well.”

- Jessica Jue, Carnegie Mellon University, alpha Kappa Delta Phi (aKDPhi). Scholarship sponsored by Rho Lambda.

“Getting a scholarship to attend NGLA, gave me the opportunity to network, learn and teach many other student leaders. I also learned how to be a better and stronger leader to be able to lead my council to greater success. I created many bonds with new people and learned a little bit about myself. In the future I wish to be a speaker at NGLA to be able to inspire other student leaders, how I was inspired this very weekend!”

- Brittany Carson, Widener University, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated
