Executive Director 

Job Description 

The Northeast Greek Leadership Association (NGLA) exists to fulfill its mission of educating leaders from a variety of fraternal experiences to transform and empower their communities and align actions with values.

Position Summary: 

Job Title: Executive Director 
Reports to: Board of Directors 
Status: Part-Time 
Approximate Time Commitment: 25-30 hours per week 
Location: Remote, but with the responsibility to attend in-person meetings and events on behalf of NGLA: the NGLA Annual Conference, the NGLA Winter and Summer Board Meetings, and the AFA Annual Meeting 
Salary: $44,700 per year 
Additional Compensation: Registration, travel, and expenses will be provided for required in-person meetings and events 

Position Description: 

The Executive Director will serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director shall keep the Board of Directors fully informed about the activities of the association and see that all orders and resolutions of the Board of Directors are carried into effect. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will contribute to the overall vision and direction of the association by identifying priorities, touchpoints, and timelines. This will enable the Board of Directors to accomplish the goals that the association wishes to pursue in a more effective manner as it pertains to the Annual Conference, as well as to opportunities for program development in addition to the Conference.  
 
The Executive Director will also assist with maintaining the historical knowledge of the association. This includes pursuing the goals, priorities, and projects of the Board of Directors in such a way as to ensure continuity year over year and during the transitions of directors. This position will serve to support the Board’s role as a strategic and visioning body, and the Executive Director will be charged with creating more role clarity for all levels of the organization, as well as ensuring that all roles are being maximally utilized, but not at the expense of individual abilities. 

Job responsibilities: 

Execution of Strategic Priorities

  • Review multi-year strategic plan as determined by the Board of Directors and identify and implement process changes where necessary. 
  • Identify opportunities to refine goals and improve processes and provide quarterly updates to the Board of Directors. 
  • Review the Call for Volunteers processes, including defining and refining objectives, important dates and deadlines, and volunteer entry and exit programs. 
  • Identify and develop programming initiatives beyond the NGLA Annual Conference: 
    • Research needs of and opportunities for stakeholders in the Northeast region. 
    • Potential initiatives include the NGLA Innovation Grant, a summertime leadership experience, advisor programming, and virtual learning opportunities. 
  • Understand and convey the association’s strategic future to staff, Board, volunteers, sponsors, and donors. 

Sponsorship Management  

  • Lead the contract management process for sponsorship. 
  • Cultivate new sponsors for the association, with the assistance of the Operations Manager. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for association sponsors (inclusive of Annual Conference sponsorship opportunities). 
  • Oversee execution of sponsorship contracts. 
  • Review communications to sponsors. 
  • Provide status reports to the Board of Directors as needed regarding new, continuing, or terminating sponsorship agreements. 
  • Conduct a bi-annual review of sponsorship opportunities with the support of the Operations Manager. 
  • Review and administer the annual Sponsorship Survey. Review results with Operations Manager and provide recommendations to improve, renew, and/or elevate sponsorship opportunities. 

Donor and Financial Management  

  • Create and execute the association's fundraising campaigns, including but not limited to, Giving Tuesday, the Silent Auction at the Annual Conference, and the NGLA Fund.  
  • Research and apply for grants available to the association as a 501(c)3 organization. 
  • Manage investment portfolio in tandem with the Board of Directors. 

Delegation Outreach and Support  

  • Oversee the work of the Delegation Outreach and Support Committee, in concert with the Delegation Outreach and Support Chair. 
  • Lead the design and execution of the association’s outreach initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with the Delegation Outreach and Support Chair and Registration Chair to expand the impact of NGLA. 

Skills and Professional Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree. 
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with progressively more significant leadership responsibilities in a not-for-profit organization. 
  • Experience working with or serving on a Board of Directors.  
  • Proven ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with new and existing stakeholders (e.g., staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, sponsors). 
  • Experience with high-level strategic thinking, planning, and execution in a not-for-profit organization. 
  • Experience with fundraising and a demonstrated ability to strengthen existing donor relationships and cultivate new donor relationships. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Strong public speaking skills. 
  • Strong organizational abilities, including delegation, program development, and task facilitation.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work/collaborate with individuals who have a diversity of communication and learning styles. 
  • An understanding of fraternal organizations is preferred.
